I love Dove products. Even if I didn’t I would find an excuse to buy them simply because I appreciate the way the company treats women as a whole. They are on a mission to make women feel better about themselves and I am all for that.
Luckily, Dove products are every bit as good as the company’s intentions. I particularly love their hair products. They work well on my baby fine, thin, fragile, color-treated hair. That is no small feat.
One of my favorite new Dove products is their Color Repair Shampoo. It is part of Dove’s Damage Therapy System. This particular shampoo provides fiber active products to penetrate deep into the hair root. The result is healthy hair from the inside out.
Additionally, Color Repair’s unique micro-moisture serum ensures that moisture penetrates into the hair shaft as well as providing a protective outer coating of hydration. That added moisture helps to protect hair color as well.
Finally, Dove’s weightless formulization ensures that hair never feels weighed down. It leaves it shiny, bouncy, silky and smooth; no matter the condition beforehand. Not many shampoos in today’s marketplace can begin to make such a claim.
Dove recognizes that coloring causes hair damage and that, in turn, damaged hair holds color poorly. It is a vicious circle that hampers many womens’ ability to care properly for their hair. For that reason, Dove takes extra care to put things into their products that will help ease the damage, while returning hair to its once lustrous condition.
Dove’s Damage Therapy Color Repair Shampoo is perfect for hair that is slightly to moderately dry, dull, limp and lifeless. It is also perfect for hair that is frizzy, with dry, cracked, broken and split ends. But it also works on hair that is at its breaking point; brittle and overtly dry. In every case, it is Dove to the rescue.
Dove’s Damage Therapy Color Repair Shampoo is easy to use. Just apply a dime’s size amount to thoroughly wet hair. Work into a mild lather and massage the shampoo into the scalp as well as deep into the hair. Then rinse, condition with Dove’s Damage Therapy Color Repair Conditioner and style as desired.
Ingredients in this shampoo include carbomer, cocamidopropyl betaine, gluconoalactone, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, methylchloisothiazolinone, methylasothizolinone, PEG-45M, PPG-9, sodium laureth sulfate, TEA-dodecylbenzenesulfonate, TEA-sulfate, tetraosidum-EDTA, titanium treehalose. It also contains adipic acid, citric acid, dimethiconol, DMDM hydantoin, fragrance, glycerin, cylcol disterate, mica, red 33, sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, titanium dioxide, water and yellow 5.
Here is my summary review:
Effectiveness: 5 stars. Although I would obviously prefer the shampoo to have less additives, chemicals and preservatives, I can’t argue with the results. Dove’s Damage Therapy Color Repair Shampoo works and I will settle for that.
Smell: 5 stars. This shampoo has a pleasant, somewhat fruity smell. I like it.
Variety: 5 stars. Dove provides a wide variety of shampoo products. If Color Repair isn’t for you, there is bound to be one that is. Dove’s shampoo line includes:
Damage Therapy Cool Moisture Shampoo,
Damage Therapy Daily Moisture Shampoo,
Damage Therapy Energize Shampoo,
Damage Therapy Frizz Control Shampoo,
Damage Therapy Heat Defense Shampoo,
Damage Therapy Intensive Hair Repair Shampoo,
Damage Therapy Shine Boost Shampoo,
Damage Therapy Volume Boost Shampoo,
Dove Color Care Dark Shampoo and
Dove Color Care Light Shampoo.
Packaging: 4 stars. Dove’s Damage Therapy Color Repair Shampoo comes in a white bottle with a fuschia pink metallic label representing the color repair system. The Dove logo is pictured on the front of the bottle. The bottle isn’t distinctive in color but does have an unusual shape, which could draw the eye to it.
Ease of storage: 4 stars. The bottle measures 8″ in height by about 3.25″ at the widest point. It is tall and could, therefore, be hard to store in some cabinets and small bathroom vanities. However, it should fit well under the sink or even in a shower caddy.
Availability: 5 stars. Dove products can be found in most major grocery, drug and discount department stores as well as some beauty boutiques.
Price: 5 stars. Dove offers some of the most reasonably priced shampoos on the market today. It retails for between $3 and $4, depending upon where it is purchased.
Product purchase probability: 5 stars. I will definitely purchase this product over and over again.
Final rating: 4.8 stars.
