Recently, I became enamored with the San Jose Guerrero district from an article I read in the Mission Local. Tucked away in the TransMission, there is a garden oasis. It’s not hard to imagine that something like that takes a lot of planning. In fact, this is what the San Jose Guerrero web site is mainly dedicated to. You can view their past projects and see how to volunteer here.
I was hoping to find lots of current information on the web site. However, they stated in 2008 that they were going to start working heavily on the Saint Luke’s project. For this reason, I think they did not update their website. Right now, it looks like they’re moving on from Saint Luke’s and onto other community projects that need our help.
This week, I got my wish and finally the web site was updated with local TransMission action. It turns out that the project is working to help the Mission Dolores beautify its neighborhood in the way it knows best. You can view their hand written plans here. You can also learn more about the neighborhood within the neighborhood with in the neighborhood here.
