Witch Hunt is the latest DLC for Dragon Age: Origins by Bioware. It’s also the last DLC for Dragon Age: Origins before the sequel is released.
In this DLC, you’re on the trail of Morrigan. After she disappeared at the end of the original story, you haven’t seen or heard of her since. Recently she’s surfaced and is causing trouble. You, Dog (i.e. your sidekick dog), a Dalish Elf named Ariane, and a young mage named Finn go out to find her and figure out what she’s been up to. You’ll get a story exploring another mystery in the world of Ferelden, battle in four dungeon areas, meet a few familiar faces from the original game, and get a big new boss to fight. The dungeons you explore do retread old ground, so there is a feeling that you’re not exploring anything new.
Admittedly, I had high expectations for the DLC, hoping to receive closure on several of the questions remaining about Morrigan from the original game. Disappointingly, many questions weren’t answered and some new questions were created. Despite this, the story and content from the DLC is quite good, atleast on par with the Leliana’s Song DLC. Since it concerns Morrigan, there is more attachment to this DLC story and than other ones, making it well worth the $7. The only major criticism is that it could have been so much more. For example, new dungeons could have been added instead of retreading old ones.
One of the best parts of this DLC is the background chatter between Ariane and Finn. As you’re traversing the world, Ariane and Finn will have hilarious exchanges with each other. It’s much like the hilarious background chatter between Alistair, Leliana, Morrigan, Sten, and Shale from the original game. It was missing in a lot of other DLC content, so it was refreshing to see it back again.
Witch Hunt is a good DLC to help bridge your Dragon Age fix until the sequel is released next year. I recommend all Dragon Age fans check it out.
