Just when you thought the collective consciousness of the world couldn’t get any more personal, along come the Dead Drops art installations. While the results are as yet undetermined, the journey looks to be interesting.
The Dead Drops involve the “embedding [of] flash drives into the walls or curbs around New York, allowing folks to anonymously share files with one another,” according to UberGizmo.com. Aram Bartholl is the designer.
These Dead Drops installations are new; everyone is waiting to see if anyone else is bold enough to hop on and see what’s going on in someone else’s head. Meanwhile, if you’re unafraid of computer viruses and you have the time to check these out, you can find the one in DUMBO at Empire Fulton Ferry State Park. If you’re daring enough and can brave the cold, bring your notebook by and see what’s up!
