People love their coffee, people take comfort in their comfort food, and coffee shops are often neighborhood institutions which hold dear places in our minds long after our physical form has left these sometimes grimy outposts. When the new Archway Café opened up on Pearl Street in DUMBO recently, residents were skeptical. But only skeptical for a moment as the resounding need for such a place in the neighborhood combined with the brand spanking new spaces fun, arty interior all came together to make Archway Café’s recent grand opening a huge success.
The word around the online world agreed with the sentiment from residents. From the blog Becoming Brooklyn (1) “A much needed coffee shop opened on Pearl Street in DUMBO this week. Archway Café is serving up hot and cold coffee drinks, specialty sandwiches, and freshly baked bagels, croissants, and muffins.”
This isn’t just some stranger walking onto the scene either. Archway Café’s owner is the former owner of DUMBO Muffin, “which was located just a couple storefronts down,” so he obviously knows the neighborhood.
Local art also adorns the walls and there will likely be a time when musicians come in or writers read their stuff, so Archway Café has a strong showing in the neighborhood and looks to be a hit!
