After watching the third week of competition on Dancing with the Stars, I have a sneaking suspicion that Jersey Shore’s “The Situation” is going to be eliminated on tonight’s results show. I did well with my predictions of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance results shows, and I’ll admit that I’m not quite as confident about DWTS. Nonetheless, I think that The Situation will be eliminated on the DWTS week three results show.
Why? Well, first of all, The Situation can’t dance. Not only can he not move well, he has no musicality – meaning, he can’t feel the beat. The Situation is Michael Bolton-bad (and Michael Bolton, spectacularly eliminated from DWTS last week, was bad). And though The Situation works hard and is actually quite endearing in a very weird way, his time on DWTS has shown us that he just can’t dance. So, I think The Situation will be eliminated.
Why won’t Margaret Cho be eliminated from DWTS in week three, you may ask? Because I think her personality is infectious enough, and her sentiment behind her week three routine was inspirational (and well-timed) enough to overlook her somewhat hideous dancing. But Cho needs to be careful. I want to take her seriously, but she makes it very hard to do so, and that may be her undoing in this competition.
Bristol Palin is another candidate for elimination this week on DWTS. However, Palin is so far out of her comfort zone (The Situation is at least an entertainer – Palin is not even that) that she’ll get (and she deserves) a little more leeway. Add in her interesting public persona and the fact that she is genuinely sweet, likeable, and can actually dance when she loosens up, and I think she’ll last a little longer on DWTS.
Florence Henderson also had a surprisingly shaky performance on week three of DWTS. Henderson has been so terrific – and not just for a 76-year-old woman – that I was surprised at her weak performance this week on DWTS. However, I think the genuine emotion of Henderson’s performance and interviews will get her through the week three results show unscathed.
So, taking all of that into consideration, I think we’re facing an elimination Situation on week three of Dancing with the Stars. I feel bad for the guy, because he knows he’s on the chopping block, but I’m reasonably confident that The Situation will be eliminated on the DWTS week three results show.
