Even a simple netting-type bridal veil can be very expensive and it’s hard to understand why. Netting-type fabrics are not usually costly so it’s unthinkable that a simple veil can be so expensive. If you started out wanting a gorgeous veil, but you ended up only being able to afford a simple netting-type veil, don’t frown. It’s really easy to turn that ordinary veil into one that looks expensive!
There are several different ways to add glittery or elegant embellishments to a wedding veil. One way is to use fabric paint. The paint, which comes in a squeezable tube, is available in colors of gold, silver or other shades. Keep in mind that there’s no room for error when using paint on a veil or other clothing.
Spread out trash bags and lay the veil out as flat as possible. Place a little paint on a paper plate then choose the implement you want to use. A small paintbrush works fine but you can also use a pencil’s eraser, a wooden dowel piece or any number of other things. Tap the implement in the paint and place random dots of glittery paint on the veil. Small dots work best. It’s important that the dots appear similar in size and that you don’t get too many dots gathered in one area with cast areas between other dots.
Adding sequin to a veil is not as difficult as one might think. Although it is a time-consuming project it is not hard at all. To make things easier on yourself you can use large sequin, but actually, smaller sequin create a more subtle look. With the veil stretched out on trash bags simply tap each sequin with a dot of fabric glue. You’ll find it easier to hold the sequin if you use a rolled-up piece of tape. After the glue is on the sequin, position it where you want it, then use a toothpick or other implement to hold the sequin down while you remove the tape.
Use tape in the same manner to attach tiny, fake jewels onto the veil. They’re available in many different colors and sizes at a craft store. Go with the really small ones to prevent weighting the veil. The jewels are available in types that allow you to peel off an adhesive backing and stick them on the veil or another type that requires you to use glue. Fabric glue works – and so does hot glue – but you’ll have to have the veil dry-cleaned if you lauder it.
Just because you don’t have a huge cash flow doesn’t mean you can’t have the most gorgeous wedding veil ever. It can take a little time to turn an ordinary veil into a glamorous one but it’s well worth the effort. You’ll have the veil forever, of course, so why not make it a stunning one that you’ll always cherish?
