This easy, sparkling Christmas craft is perfect for last minute holiday decorations. Create a Christmas centerpiece for your feast, or decorate your living room table or entryway. You can even turn this sparkling Christmas craft into a Thanksgiving craft simply by changing the colors of the ornaments you use and the types of ribbon and ivy. Just follow these simple steps to create your own sparkling holiday craft.
1. Christmas Craft Supplies
To make this easy, sparkling craft for Christmas you’ll need cheap round Christmas ornaments. You can save money by buying the bulk packages of single colored Christmas ornaments. You’ll also need rubber bands, a roll of cellophane paper from a craft store and Christmas ribbons or a silk ivy garland.
2. Thanksgiving Craft Supplies
To Make this easy, sparkling craft for Thanksgiving you’ll need cheap round Christmas ornaments in reds, orange and greens (fall colors). You’ll also need rubber bands, a roll of cellophane paper (from a craft store), and a Thanksgiving craft ribbon with wire sides or a leafy silk garland.
3. Wrap the Ornaments
Cut a rectangle of cellophane paper that’s four times larger than the Christmas ornament. Place the ornament at the center and bring up the corners of the cellophane to enclose the Christmas ornament completely. Twist the cellophane over the ornament and secure with a rubber band. If the top of the cellophane jutting over the wrapped ornament is uneven, trim it so it looks pretty and sparkling.
4. Decorate the Christmas Craft Top
There are several beautiful ways to conceal the rubber band and lend beauty to this holiday craft. I used a Christmas garland. I cut one of the links loose and looped it over the top of the bunched cellophane. You can also tie a Christmas ribbon for a Christmas craft, or a Thanksgiving ribbon for a Thanksgiving craft. If the craft ribbon has wires on the sides, loop the ribbon in whimsical ways over and around your holiday craft. Ivy makes a beautiful addition, and even if you are using a ribbon you can slip a sprig of silk ivy in the knot.
5. Cluster your Christmas Crafts
To turn this Christmas craft into a centerpiece, cluster the wrapped, sparkling ornaments in a decorative bowl at the center of the table. For a Thanksgiving craft, cluster your ornaments in a wicker basket. You can place these sparkling Christmas crafts (or Thanksgiving crafts) in glass potpourri bowls and place them by the front door on a bed of apple, cinnamon scented potpourri. Decorate your bathroom in the same way or even your Christmas tree by hanging these Christmas crafts between strings of light.
