With medium-length hair, you can beat the summer heat with a ‘do that still has plenty of styling capabilities. These hairstyles for medium-length hair offer a variety of different ways to switch up your look. So whether you want a beachy, Bohemian style or feel like going old-school glam, these easy summer hairstyles for medium-length hair will give you plenty of options. Experiment until you find the style that goes with your summer glow.
The braid cascade is one of my favorite summer hairstyles for medium-length hair, because it’s a simple Bohemian look with a touch of elegance. You’ll need a decorative barrette, six small rubber bands and a brush. First, part your hair down the center. Next, grab a small amount of hair up close to your part, about an inch behind the front of your hairline. Very loosely braid this hair and secure the end with a rubber band. Go back an inch further from your face and repeat. Then, go back another inch further and repeat so that you have three braids. Now mirror these three braids on the other side of your head so that you have six braids. Grab the ends of the braids and use the barrette to clip the ends (above the rubber bands) high up on the back of your head. This should create a nice, cascading effect with the braids on the sides of your head, and you can now remove the rubber bands to finish your look. This is one of the summer hairstyles for medium-length hair that’s incredibly easy to pull off, but it’s creative and eye-catching enough to complement your best summer dress.
Ponytail with Pomp
If you’re looking for summer hairstyles for medium-length hair that keep your lovely locks off of your shoulders, try this fun spin on a plain ponytail. First, you’ll need to comb the front of your hair over your face, securing this bunch of hair with a clip. Next, pull the rest of your hair back into a loose ponytail. Take the hair in front of your face and comb it back away from your face on top of your head, securing it about four inches or so back with a clear rubber band. Grab the rubber band and push your hair forward to create a mini pompadour, fastening it with a flat barrette or some bobby pins. Now just spray your bump with a bit of hairspray to hold it in place. For your ponytail, pull your remaining hair back high on top of your head, preferably using a ponytail holder that blends with your hair. To finish your look, use a curling iron to curl your ponytail. This is one of the edgiest, easiest hairstyles for medium-length hair. It is perfect for a summer night on the town and is best paired with a hot mini dress.
The Betty Draper
“Mad Men” fans with medium-length hair will love this classic hairstyle. To achieve a look similar to Betty’s, all you’ll need are some rollers, a headband, a comb and hairspray. First, roll your hair. After the rollers have cooled, spritz your hair with some hairspray, with the rollers still in your hair. Now take the rollers out and comb out your hair with your fingers. Use the hair comb to comb only the front of your hair back away from your face, holding it down as you put on your headband. This is one of the best hairstyles for medium-length hair, and it’s perfect for wearing with an A-line skirt and peep-toe heels — little accents that will help you capture a touch of that “Mad Men” sophistication for the summer.
You can’t go through the summer without giving one of my favorite, easy hairstyles for medium-length hair a try. All you need to achieve this beach-ready look is a spray bottle, ¼ cup of finely-ground sea salt and one cup of water. Simply shake the sea salt and water inside the spray bottle and spritz it all over slightly damp hair. Scrunch your hair. When your hair dries, you should end up with some beautiful, beachy waves — a hairstyle celebrities like Paris Hilton seem pretty fond of. It’s one of the easy hairstyles for medium-length hair that anyone can pull off, and it’s one of my favorite daytime looks for the summer.
So whether you want to look sexy for a summer night or lovely for some afternoon delight, these easy summer hairstyles for medium-length hair should help you make every summer moment a memorable one.
