Small metal or plastic buckets make great home or party decorations and are very popular today. These are usually easy to decorate by using paint markers and stencils. The following two bucket ideas would make great gifts for friends or an easy craft for kids to make for grandparents. Both of these buckets are nice for summer or fall crafts or gifts since they fit well with either season.
The S’mores bucket is a nice easy craft that would be nice for kids to make as a gift for grandparents or could even be used as a scout troop or 4-H troop activity. The barbeque bucket is a nice gift for friends that you know you will spend time with over the summer or fall.
Supplies that you are need are:
8 inch metal bucket, preferably a colored one but silver will work.
9’X12″ foam sheet in tan, brown, and white – 1 sheet per color
Paint Markers – fine-point white, black, and medium-point brown
S’mores food – graham crackers, marshmallows, chocolate bars
Small set of metal roasting sticks or a metal roasting fork
Measure 2″ X 2 1/2 “rectangle out of the foam making two tan ones and one brown one. Cut these out. Cut three marshmallow shapes out of the white foam.
Apply paint marker to foam. On one tan piece, use the brown marker to make dashed line and dots to make the top of the graham cracker. On the brown foam piece, make lines for a chocolate bar, note that only one edge will show.
Glue the foam pieces together to assemble a s’more. Layer a bottom graham cracker, chocolate bar, two marshmallows, and top graham cracker. Apply glue to each layer and let dry.
On the front of the bucket, use white paint marker to stencil “S’more” at the top and “Fun” at the bottom, allowing space in between for foam s’more in between. Glue the foam s’more onto the center of the bucket.
Add s’more ingredients to the inside of the bucket and have fun sharing with someone else.
Supplies that you will need:
An 8 inch diameter bucket
White paint marker
Bbq foods – hot dogs, buns, ketchup, mustard, napkins
On front of bucket, paint the word ” Barbeque” on the top center of the bucket front. Paint “Time” on the bottom center of the bucket front. In the center, you could paint a picture of a hot dog or any picnic related theme item. You could also cut a square of red and white checkered material to glue to the center to represent a tablecloth.
Inside the bucket, add the hot dog related items. You could also add a set of tongs or hot dog forks if you were giving as a gift.
Another idea would be a beach bucket for anyone retiring to Florida. Make it by painting a nice beach scene on the front and adding sunglasses, sunscreen lotion, and a nice plastic glass with lid, and a book for all those lazy afternoons of lying in the sun and relaxing.
Each of these is a simple and affordable crafts that most anyone is capable of making. They could be used for many purposes and the person will always have the bucket as a reminder of the nice gift that they were given. Let your imagination run wild and I am sure that you will think of many more gift buckets that you could make similar to these.
These will make great gifts for weddings, baby showers, retirement gifts, birthday gifts, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, and almost any other holiday or special occasion that you can think of. Whatever your reason is for making these buckets, be sure to have fun making them and allow the kids to help as much as possible.
