The New York Economic Development Corp. has recently released a preliminary rendering of the plans for Willoughby Square Park, an upcoming addition to the beautification of downtown Brooklyn. The park will be one acre of public open space. It will be at street level with an underground parking garage beneath it. The park will be located located on Willoughby Street between Duffield and Gold streets. It will be half a block from the bustling Fulton Street Mall.
The park is funded by the Downtown Brooklyn Redevelopment Plan, which has committed $100 million to open space and infrastructure in hopes of reinvigorating the neighborhood.
The rendering, seen in the accompanying photo, was reviewed and approved by CB2 and has been submitted to the Public Design Commission for final approval.
Once completed, Willoughby Square Park will be a wonderful addition to the somewhat dreary but developing and revitalizing downtown Brooklyn.
