Eddie Long scandal – can Atlanta rally this weekend urge Bishop Eddie Long to resign from his post at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church? That’s the hope of protesters as they prepare to rally against the Bishop this Sunday at the Georgia State Capitol in the hopes they’ll bring his resignation even closer.
Atlanta Rally in Georgia Against Bishop Long Designed to Send Strong Message
Prophet H. Walker of True Light Pentecostal Church in South Carolina will lead the Atlanta rally, delivering a strong message to Bishop Eddie Long. Since four young men have come forward, accusing Long of sexually abusing them after he gave them lavish gifts and paying for expensive trips around the world, Long hasn’t confirmed nor denied the allegations.
The Bishop has long preached the sins of homosexuality in his church and with the latest lawsuits, the accusations suggest he’s been very much a part of it all along. In spite of it all, Bishop Long remains in the pulpit, delivering his own messages to loyal followers. He continues to ignore the headlines, speculations, and not acknowledge the allegations other than to insist he’s “not perfect.”
Bishop Eddie Long hasn’t been happy with the media attention and the accusations, but he’s carrying on as though he’s not rattled in the least by the scandal facing him and his congregation. He may think that paints him in an innocent light, but ignoring the serious questions in people’s minds isn’t the best line of defense, either.
Rally Held Oct. 31 at Georgia State Capitol
The Atlanta rally calling for Eddie Long’s resignation is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 31st at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Georgia State Capitol. There hasn’t been an estimate of how many will attend the protest in rallying for Long to step down from his position, but there will be attendees from around the U.S. and the world.
Prophet H. Walker who’s organizing the rally in Atlanta has received death threats and terrible messages involving pornographic images with his face on them, but he’s determined to hold the rally and pressure Bishop Long to step down.
A lot hope this rally will rattle Bishop Long enough to step down and resign, but others feel it will take a lot more than that. It may be another headline event Long will ignore.
