As a new online business owner, you may quickly find you do not have the time, skill or confidence to create online content. You may also not have the budget to outsource content creation to a ghostwriter. However, poor content or a blank website will not generate the profits needed to stay viable online. PLR is often touted as a quick fix. The seller may be telling you to purchase their content and immediately put it to use in your marketing efforts. This is not how PLR products are meant to be used, nor should be used.
Modify the Content – The first step in using Private Label Rights is to make changes to the content. Think of it as ready-made research. Rewrite it to reflect your voice and the needs of your target audience.
Add Keyword Phrases – Though PLR is often written around a general keyword phrase, that phrase is usually not the best option. Producers generally choose their topics from the highest search volume keywords. With those high volume phrases also comes a high rate of competition. The chances for your new site being ranked highly for the as-is content is unlikely. Incorporate a new keyword phrase with lower competition. Change the title to reflect that. Many producers are now creating keyword research reports to make this step easier.
Change the Original Intent – Just because you bought the PLR as an article, does not mean it needs to stay that way. Most Private Label Rights are sold in packs of 5 to 10 articles. Bundle these articles into an eBook. Load them into an autoresponder series. Make them into a video or slide show to relay the information in another way to your audience.
When using Private Label Rights, never market it as you purchased it. Chances are someone else has already done that, and it is obvious in search engine results. If you site has the same content as three other sites, you will not receive the expert status you were striving for nor will your new site be seen as a unique value in the online world. Optimize the content to get the best results.
