Did you ever expect to see Ellen Degeneres take a model’s stroll down the catwalk at a fashion show? It seems that now the famed comedienne can add model as part of her resume. Not known for her fashion sense, the popular talk show host made a surprise appearance, according to Radar Online, at the Richie Rich show during New York’s Fashion Week Thursday night. But Ellen Degeneres was in luck, because sneakers and casual chic seem to be part of what’s in with this year’s fashion.
Sporting a silver suit, a tiny hat, and laced-up-the-ankles sneakers, Degeneres strutted onto the catwalk. She even mimicked a most model-like pout for the wildly cheering audience.
Ellen Degeneres, fresh off of getting out of her five-year contract with American Idol, has been on fire, making guest appearances all over the place. Not only did she shock everyone in America with her guest appearance on the season finale of So You Think You Can Dance, she went one further by proving that she had a little more talent in the dance department than might have been believed given her quirky little dance routines on her talk show. She appeared in a routine where the partner in the number, Alex Wonb, had been injured and could not participate.
She was a hit. So was the video of the performance.
Degeneres also made a guest cameo appearance as a nurse in the hit Broadway musical “Promises Promises” the day before she hit the catwalk.
She seems to be popping up just about everywhere, which is good news for the newly liberated Kara DioGuardi, who was also released from American Idol in recent weeks. DioGuardi had been with the hit reality contest show for two seasons.
Although Degeneres had only been with American Idol for a season, she made it known to producers of the show that she wasn’t happy with her being a part of it and would like to work something out where she could get out of her five-year contract. Amid the myriad rumors of who was going to replace the voluntarily exiting Simon Cowell, reports began to circulate that the American Idol judges panel was being pared to three (it had been four judges strong with the addition of Kara DioGuardi in 2008) as well. Other reports indicated that the two vacancies (judge Randy Jackson still had a year on his current contract and would remain) were being filled by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and pop singer/actress Jennifer Lopez.
Degeneres announced on July 28 that she would not return for Season 10 of American Idol.
There has yet to be an official announcement as to who will sit with Randy Jackson on the judges panel for Season 10.
