Sad news to all the muggles out there: the Harry Potter series are nearing an end! The 7th installment and the second to last film of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, just premiered in New York City on Monday night, November 16th. Among those who showed up were the movie’s 3 main stars, Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint.
Standing tall in a strappy black gown, Watson looked all grown up! Remember the cute, studious witch with brown curls? Well, she is now a lovely, young lady! Showing off her new haircut – a brave choppy do – Watson was laughing, joking and having a great time at the event. She even joked about taking off her dress just to up some fashion poll – what a little teaser!
Radcliffe and Grint also looked quite handsome all suited up. In good spirits, the boys were also joking around with reporters and excited for their new movie.
It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago, little Harry Potter with his trademark glasses and little Ron Weasley with his red hair were just kids. Now, after so many Harry Potter installments, they have become refined young men!
In The Deathly Hallows: Part 1, the three best friends from Hogwarts reunite to fight their dark enemy, Lord Voldemort . After the very first Harry Potter movie, the series seemed to focus on various elements of the story, introducing many characters and history. But in The Deathly Hallows: Part 1, the attention comes back to the trio of friends – as Voldemort becomes stronger, so does their friendship. And that’s what I have always liked about Harry Potter, how Harry could always count on his friends!
While the rest of the country anxiously waits for the movie to open on Friday, November 19th, other stars were able to watch it at the New York City Premiere. Among them were Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna’s daughter Lourdes , and Joey Fatone.
Filled with mystery, magic and darkness, I expect this Harry Potter movie to be quite an entertaining experience. It will be hard to fight through all the overzealous tweens at the theater, but I’m doing it anyway!
