This year’s (2010) Johnny Appleseed Festival in Crystal Lake, IL will be held on September 25th. As in previous years the festival will take place in the down town area of the city.
There will several different activities throughout the day. A DJ will be playing music throughout the day. The music can be heard pretty much throughout all the streets of the festival. The music usually includes songs from the 70’s,80’s, 90’s.
The festival begins at 9:00 AM and ends around 4:00 PM.
From 9:00 AM to noon there will be an obstacle course for children between the ages of 2-5.
A Craft Fair and Farmers market will be available for the entire day.
Children’s rides and activities will be available all day at the Brink Street Market Center parking lot.
There are also various areas where food and drinks are served throughout the area. Mostly down at the end of the downtown area.
Other scheduled activities include:
Apple Pie Baking Contest at the Raue Center for the Arts at 11:00 AM & Apple Pie eating contest at 2:30 PM.
Bake Sale from at the Raue Center for the Arts between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM
Cakewalk from at Noon, 1:00 and at 2:00 PM at Raue Center for the Arts
Guided Tours at Noon and 2:00 PM at the Raue Center for the Arts
Face Painting and Adopt A Husky where you can pet and view dogs that are up for adoption will go on all day on Williams St.
There will also be a clown from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Williams Street and clown balloon artist from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The Fire Department will be there with the safety house that people can walk through and a fire engine that kids can look at and sit inside. There will also be a police car that kids can sit in as well.
There will be a demonstration from the Crystal Lake Historical society showing how to peal apples and make cider using antique equipment.
There are also local business and organizations that will have booths spread out throughout the down town area.
Down town businesses will be opened and many will have displays out on the sidewalks.
Jory Parys will perform from 10:00 AM to 11:30 on the Gazebo stage.
Brent Hoodenpyle & The Loners will perform their country music act from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on the Gazebo Stage.
The Beaumonts will perform at the Brink Street Market throughout the day.
2 local dance studios students will perform one at 10:00 AM and one at 11:00 AM. In the Brink Street Market Area.
Cowboy Randy Erwin will be yodeling and roping at 11:45 AM.
The Siberian Working Dogs will be demonstrated at 1:00 PM.
Lee’s Martial Arts school will perform at 1:30 PM.
AKF Martial Arts school will perform at 3:30 PM.
My kids and I have been attending the Johnny Appleseed festival for many years. The weather is almost always nice and it Is great to be out and about enjoying the down town area and enjoying all the entertainment and great food that is available.
