I went to both the Castro and Haight Ashbury last night for Halloween Night. The Castro is still a special place on Halloween, just not as outwardly festive as it used to be. However, even in the middle of all the craziness of a Saturday night on Halloween weekend, there are people still working in the Castro.
I peeked inside Scott Weiner’s office and even as late as 9pm his campaign headquarters was still humming while hundreds revelers were walking by outside. Scott is running for San Francisco Supervisor.
Similarly, many homeless people were still out working on this festive night. At least, their job was made easier by the DPW leaving large yellow trash bins without lids.
