What’s the Latest Buzz in Skin Care? Rodan + Fields
What’s new in skin care? The latest beauty buzz has revolved around the new products and skin care technology being released by Rodan + Fields Dermatologists . If you think you haven’t heard of Rodan + Fields, yes you have. Doctors Katie Rodan and Kathy Fields created the world’s best-selling acne treatment, Proactiv Solution, in the early 1990s and began selling it in 1995. Since then, more than 15 million people around the world have used Proactiv, with sales of around $850 million dollars a year. Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields were awarded the Cosmetic Executive Women’s Award in 2003 for changing the direction of the industry. (A brief history of Rodan + Fields Dermatologists)
Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields – Rodan + Fields Dermatologists
Now Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields, who are both in their 50s, have launched their newest skin care line, Rodan + Fields Dermatologists, catering to the skin needs of the aging baby boomers. The line has been getting tremendous and enthusiastic attention in leading beauty magazines, winning numerous awards and honors for the various regimes. Much like they did with Proactiv, the doctors have devised MultiMed therapies which consist of carefully planned treatments that combine the right ingredients in the right formulations in the right order to maximize the skin’s response.
Rodan + Fields – New Innovation in Skin Care Leaked in Marie Claire Magazine
The big news is that Rodan + Fields released a new innovation in skin care on Oct. 1, 2011 which changed the direction of the industry. Although magazines were asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement saying they would not run feature articles before Oct. 1, the beauty editor found a way to get a small blurb out in “Marie Claire Magazine” on Sept. 13 when she wrote:
Special Delivery: I’m obsessed with this skin roller from Rodan + Fields, $200 (with Anti-Age AMP MD kit): Its superfine acupuncture needles gently prick skin so that topical treatments absorb instantaneously. (Rodan + Fields new anti-age technology leaked in Marie Claire)
An accompanying photo showed a small blue roller with delicate micro-needle prongs running down the sides. Could such a simple device change the face of the beauty industry? Absolutely!
Marie Claire once again scooped the new Rodan + Fields Redefine Macro Exfoliator in Feb. 2013 when they added it to their list of six Home Improvement DIY devices.
Cosmetic dermatology has been moving away from peels and surgery and even Fractal Laser Skin Resurfacing. More and more, the skin care industry is recognizing the need to provide effective skin care at home.
Targeting the Skin to Boost Collagen
Made for in-home use, the needles in the Rodan + Fields microneedle roller pictured in “Marie Claire” cause minute damage to the outer layer of the skin, not enough to be visible, but enough to stimulate collagen and elastin production. At the same time, the Redefine treatment is more readily absorbed through the micro-channels, increasing its effectiveness.
The Macro Exfoliator uses a professional diamond tip like those used in dermatologist and esthetician offices in a hand-held device for use at home.
Rodan + Fields Technology Boosts Collagen & Elastin
As skin ages, collagen decreases and the skin becomes thinner. Dead cells accumulate on the surface and don’t turn over as quickly. Both the micro-needle roller and the newer Macro Exfoliator cause the skin to turn over more quickly and produce more collagen. With fewer dead skin cells and increased collagen production the skin becomes more supple, firm, thicker, and wrinkles disappear.
Rodan + Fields Skin Roller & Kit $200
Priced at $200 with an AMP MD kit, there is little doubt micro-needle technology is better for the skin than other more invasive and expensive skin treatments, and it can be done at home without a costly trip to a dermatologist and without pricey lasers, scalpels, or chemical peels.
Rodan + Fields Macro Exfoliator Under $300
At under $300, the new Redefine Macro Exfoliator tool with soothing gel is bound to revolutionize the skin care industry.
