ABC News reports that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is announcing a $100 million donation to the Newark, New Jersey, school system. On the heels of being listed 35th on Forbes‘ list of richest people, Zuckerberg also has a moving coming out called “The Social Network,” about the founding of his company. Zuckerberg is going to announce his gift on “The Oprah Winfrey” show on Friday. It is the largest charitable gift that Facebook’s CEO has given in his life. Forbes lists him as having a net worth of $6.7 billion, even more than Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
Mark Zuckerberg seems to be getting a lot of press all at once, leading some to speculate that he’s appearing on “Oprah” to get more publicity for his company.
Facebook and My Family
My wife adores Facebook much more than I do. She uses it to keep in touch with family and to further her own online business. I like using Facebook to quote primary sources and to keep up with my favorite athletes or celebrities.
Facebook has been kind to my family, as it has helped feed my family through my wife’s business connections. It also keeps all of the in-laws and many cousins in touch with each other.
“The Social Network” Movie
My wife and I have no intention to see “The Social Network” whatsoever. We get enough drama in our own lives to need to see a movie about something we use every single day. While we love Mark Zuckerberg’s invention, seeing a movie about its creation might as well be a movie about the Big Bang.
Facebook was created. It exists ,and we use it. That’s all my wife and I really want to know about it. Congratulations to everyone who is the recipient of Facebook’s hundreds of millions of dollars. Hopefully Mark Zuckerberg will keep his hands in the company for many years to come. Do we really need a movie about it?
My family would use Facebook regardless of how Mark Zuckerberg’s fame or stardom is going. Luckily he has made lots of money so that his website can be maintained. Many people have tried to emulate Zuckerberg’s format and have been unsuccessful.
Facebook’s popularity has been able to be maintained with changes in the website, games, and even having users pay for certain privileges in classics such as “Farmville” or “Café World.” Facebook is a great way to keep up with celebrities and even help run your business. The modern Internet age owes a lot to Mark Zuckerberg, and thankfully the genius has put his passion to good use. Regardless of his popularity, Facebook will not be going away.
