Being a college student myself, I use the social networking site Facebook to stay connected with friends and family every day. What I have not really used are all the applications that Facebook has available. It has come to my attention that these applications may be leaking personal information to other firms and parties. One specific firm that may be responsible for leaking this information is RapLeaf.
The real issue that all Facebook users need to be weary of is the idea that your personal information is no longer safe. Identity theft is now a major concern with regards to the technological world that we live in. Feel free to continue to use Facebook. It is a great way to communicate with friends but also keep in mind that it has become a potential resource for identity thieves.
Use Facebook at your own risk. I have taken precautions with my Facebook. I have edited personal information and also modified all pictures that I have posted on the social networking site. It is just not worth the hassle and danger that can result from having your identity stolen.
More information on RapLeaf can be found on the Wiki page created for RapLeaf. There are many citations on the Wiki and as far as I am concerned, this Wiki is legit.
