Television’s 2010 premieres of new fall shows started two weeks ago with shows such as Hellcats, Terriers, Nikita and Outlaw. However, those were merely the appetizers of this fall’s TV season. This week all of the entrees come out to play. Monday is offering up some of the most talked about shows for the entire season. So, get your DVR ready for overload and get the scoop on Monday’s series premieres.
FOX Mondays 9/8c
Starring: James Wolk, Adrienne Palicki, Jon Voight, Eloise Mumford and David Keith
The Scoop: The series centers around Bob/Robert Allen as a Texas con man. He’s leading a double life with the women he loves: a wife in Houston and a girlfriend in Midland. He learned his trade the good old fashioned way: from his dad. His Houston life revolves around his wife, Cat and his position as upstanding citizen within her daddy’s oil company. The center of his Midland life is his girlfriend Lindsay and scamming money from investors.
The Hook: Can Mr. Allen keep all of these balls in the air and not get caught? He wants to go straight, what will he have to give up? How many people will he hurt in the process?
NBC Mondays 9/8c
Starring: Jason Ritter, Blair Underwood, Laura Innes, and Zeljko Ivanek
The Scoop: The premise is one part Lost and one part 24. Sean Walker’s girlfriend goes missing during a Caribbean cruise and he’s on the hunt for her. Along the way, he discovers a secret of great importance. Meanwhile, there are some detainees the President is considering releasing. This description is the tip of the iceberg, I’m sure. The “Event” doesn’t even happen in the first episode.
The Hook: The promise of mysteries to solve and cliffhangers to talk about at work. The Event promises to fill a void in our hearts left by the departures of Lost and 24.
Mike & Molly
CBS Mondays 9:30/8:30c
Starring: Billy Gardell, Melissa McCarthy, Swoozie Kurtz and Katy Mixon
The Scoop: Mike Biggs and Molly Flynn are looking for someone special. They meet each other at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting and love soon follows.
The Hook: Can Mike & Molly make their relationship work and make us laugh? Early buzz is good for this one and Gardell and McCarthy certainly have proven themselves as talented comedians over the years.
NBC Mondays 10/9c
Starring: Kelli Giddish, Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco and Rose Rollins
The Scoop: Set in Texas, the show follows U.S. Marshall Annie Frost while she tracks a fugitive with her team. Early reviews are mixed, but the police procedural format is a popular one and only time will tell for this one.
The Hook: Can a tough Texas girl kick ass and catch her man?
CBS Mondays 10/9c
Starring: Alex O’Loughlin, Daniel Dae Kim, Scott Caan and Grace Park
The Scoop: You know the story: ex-Navy officer Steve McGarret is tapped by the Governor to head up a task force to fight crime. Next thing you know it’s time to “Book ’em Danno!”
The Hook: The buzz on this reboot is through the roof! With such a strong cast and beautiful setting (not to mention big budget) it’s bound to be a hit.
