When: Saturday, Oct. 2, 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Join Sondra Hall, director at Take My Word For It, an organization that teaches creative writing to kids at several after-school programs at 18 Reasons, for a creative writing class for children. Drop your kids off with some writing materials and go and sip a relaxing cup of coffee at Tartine Bakery or run around with your younger kids at Dolores Park. The Oct. 2 class is the first in a series of four and will teach children how to write about food. The class is suitable for 3rd to 5th graders.
Homemade Family Dinner Swap
When: Sunday, Oct. 10, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Cost: $5 drop in, RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org
Hurrah for the family dinner! Join 18 Reasons and local family food blog, A Little Yumminess, at 18 Reasons’ first-ever family food swap. Food swaps are all about getting home-cooking to your table and saving you a little time and stress in the process! Here’s how it works: you make a big batch of a favorite main dish (enough for four families, separated into four containers), and take home four family-size meals to stock your refrigerator or freezer. Voila — home-cooking, made with love and ready for those inevitably hectic days. In addition to the swap, enjoy the company of other home-cooks, pick up new ideas for your family recipe box, and savor some snacks! Kids are welcome. For more details do check out the 18 Reasons website.
18 reasons is non-profit community space and a member of the Bi-Rite family of businesses dedicated to engaging the community through food and art.
