Looking to capitalize off his monstrous season, Boston Red Sox 3B Adrian Beltre declined his 5-millions player option and will now be a free agent. Beltre would up hitting .321 with 28 home runs for the Sox and for the second time in his career, will look to break the bank off a huge campaign.
Analysis: This was not a surprise as Beltre is worth more than 5 millions after that season. We have seen this act before with Beltre who put up a 48 home run season before he struck gold on the free agent market with the Mariners. No doubt Beltre will be facing an uphill battle replicating those numbers but the 3B position is possibly the shallowest in fantasy baseball so he has a place in all formats. I wont get involved here due to his past of shutting it down after getting the dough but he will surely have his suitors.
