The Arizona Diamondbacks are considering signing Hall OF Fame bound closer Trevor Hoffman to be their
team’s stopper in 2011. Hoffman earned his 600th save last season but yielded the primary closing job to John Axford. As far as the D-Backs are conerned, the had major issues closing games last season as they went through Chad Qualls, Aaron Heilman, and Juan Gutierrez in the position.
Analysis: The D-Backs were a joke when it came to closing games in 2010 and the three guys mentioned above were horrendous. With that being said, signing Trevor Hoffman is bound to fail as he struggled badly most of 2010 and now will go to a hitters park. Steer clear of Hoffman in 2011. He likely wont be able to get the job done once again this season and the D-Backs should be going through closers all year if they do decide to bring him to the club.
