Halloween could be scary for some fantasy football owners that did not plan for this weekend. Six teams are in a bye week this weekend which could create turmoil in some fantasy football leagues. Good tight ends such as Tony Gonzalez and Todd Heap will have the week off as well as Brent Celek and Kevin Boss.
Three Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Start in Week Eight of Fantasy Football
Jermaine Gresham: Cincinnati Bengals
Carson Palmer has been hit or miss this season as the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. Jermaine Gresham could be in the midst of a much better rookie season at tight end if Palmer could get him the ball more consistently. Gresham should be a primary target in this game if the Miami Dolphins bring the heat with pressure blitzes. Start Jermaine Gresham unless the number one tight end on the fantasy football team ranks third or better.
Zach Miller: Oakland Raiders
Zach Miller of the Oakland Raiders has been the diamond in the rough for fantasy football owners this season. The overlooked tight end has been a favorite target all season long and has put up numbers worthy of top five fantasy football status. Start Zach Miller this week over all fantasy football tight ends with the exception of Antonio Gates.
Dustin Keller: New York Jets
Dustin Keller is Mark Sanchez favorite target and he still is able to fight through double teams and linebackers chucking him as crosses the middle. Look for Keller to have a big day in this game against a Green bay Packers defense that will be trying to bring the pressure from the outside with Clay Mathews. Start Dustin Keller this week over all but the top three fantasy football tight ends.
Three Fantasy Football Tight Ends to Sit in Week Eight of Fantasy Football
Vernon Davis: San Francisco 49ers
It is always tough to start any players in a game that is out of the country. It is always better to err on the side of caution and sit players heading out of the country. Davis is a stud and he should be in the starting line up for most fantasy football teams every weekend just not this weekend. Sit Vernon Davis in most fantasy football leagues unless the next best option is ranked 12th or worse.
Visanthe Schiancoe: Minnesota Vikings
The New England Patriots have not looked great on defense but the match up of Visanthe Schiancoe against their defense does not work in this game. Couple this with the injured Brett Favre on the road and it makes perfect sense to sit Schiancoe in this game. Sit Visanthe Schianco unless the next best fantasy football tight end available ranks 14th or worse.
Tony Scheffler: Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions face a Washington Redskins defense that has made life tough for tight ends this season. The Redskins 3-4 defense creates a front seven that can clog up must tight ends routes across the middle. Scheffler is strictly a short pass route tight end with not much speed to get down field. Sit Tony Scheffler in most fantasy football leagues unless the next best tight end option is 16th or worse.
