Fantasy football is always tough in large bye weekends and November 7th is no different. Kyle Orton has become a number one fantasy football starter and he will be off this week. Joining Orton in the bye week will be David Garrard, Sam Bradford, Vince Young and Donovan McNabb. Some unfortunate fantasy football owners may not have planned their bye weeks properly and may be desperately seeking a third quarterback worth starting this week.
Three Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Start in Week Nine of Fantasy Football
Phillip Rivers: San Diego Chargers
Phillip Rivers has to continue to be the number one fantasy football quarterback to start in 2010. He has no known receivers to this point and he will not get his number one receiver, Vincent Jackson back until November 28th. This has not slowed the San Diegos Chargers Pro Bowl quarterback one bit.
Rivers has utilized Antonio Gates and Darren Sproles as first and second receivers and created an offense that is impossible to stop. Rivers game against the strong defense of the Tennessee Titans nabbed him another 305 yards and two touchdowns. Now he will face the worst pass defense in the NFL, the Houston Texans. Buckle those seat belts Texans. Philip Rivers is the number one fantasy football quarterback to start in week nine of fantasy football.
Matt Ryan: Atlanta Falcons
Matt Ryan has been a steady fantasy football quarterback all season but now he enters a section of his schedule that will produce some big numbers. The first victims for Ryan will be Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense. They were just carved up by the Arizona Cardinals with two of the worst quarterbacks on an NFL roster, Max Hall and Derek Anderson. Ryan will be amped up for this NFC South battle for first place and playoff positioning. Matt Ryan is a must start in fantasy football leagues unless Rivers or Peyton Manning is on the fantasy football roster.
Michael Vick: Philadelphia Eagles
Michael Vick is back and fantasy football owners are anxious to get him on the field. The Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has played this decision close to the vest to get an edge over the Indianapolis Colts but he will start Vick this weekend. Vick is a good start for two reasons. The Indianapolis Colts have an aggressive pass rush and this plays right into the hands of Vick and his free wheeling style in and out of the pocket. Start Michael Vick in every fantasy football league unless the top three fantasy football quarterbacks are on the roster.
Three Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Sit in Week Nine of Fantasy Football
Ryan Fitzpatrick: Buffalo Bills
Ryan Fitzpatrick is tearing up defenses but his performance against the Baltimore Ravens came against a battered and bruised team that was in serious need of a bye weekend. Fitzpatrick is the real deal and if he is available in any fantasy league snatch him up. Sit Ryan Fitzpatrick in every fantasy football league unless the next best option is 12th best or worse.
Matt Stafford: Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are happy to see they have the franchise quarterback Matt Stafford back but he needs to survive this game against the rough and brutal defense of the New York Jets. Stafford looked great in his return against the Washington Redskins and threw four touchdown passes. This will be an ego check for the young quarterback and he is a definite sit. Sit Matt Stafford in all fantasy football leagues unless the next best option is 14th or worse.
Drew Brews: New Orleans Saints
It is tough to sit a top five fantasy football quarterback but if there are better options to start the time has come to sit Brees. When teams play the Pittsburgh Steelers they struggle the next week because of assorted bumps and bruises. Drew Brees took a lot of punishment in the Sunday Night Football game and it will show in this road game against the Carolina Panthers. Sit Drew Brees in all fantasy football leagues unless the next best fantasy football quarterback is 14th or better.
