Week Nine of fantasy football will see key running backs such as Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson and Frank Gore off the grid on November 7th. With big number one running backs out of the line up it is good form to look for an emerging back up. Ryan Torain of the Washington Redskins was the pick up last weekend and he scored a touchdown before he went off the field with an injury.
Fantasy Football Running Backs to Start in Week Nine of Fantasy Football
Matt Forte: Chicago Bears
The Buffalo Bills give up more rushing yardage in the NFL than any other team. In their last game they were once again torched by Jamaal Charles for 177 yards and Thomas Jones added 77 yards. The only question is if Mike Martz can commit to the run in this game and give Matt Forte a big fantasy football points day against a team they can run on all day. Start Matt Forte in all fantasy football leagues.
LeSean McCoy: Philadelphia Eagles
LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles will be rested up and in good shape when the Indianapolis Colts come to town. Indianapolis has struggled against the run since Bob Sanders has gone out. Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney have attempted to pick up the slack stopping the run but they just can’t close the door. McCoy will also have some yardage catching passes out of the back field as he was a big option for Vick in short yardage. Start LeSean McCoy in all fantasy football leagues.
Michael Turner: Atlanta Falcons
Michael Turner should have a big day against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that has struggled to stop the run. The Atlanta Falcons will be rested and they will be looking to punish their NFC South rivals in this match up. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are averaging over 160 yards of rushing yards allowed and Turner should be good for about 130 yards and two touchdowns. Start Michael Turner in all fantasy football leagues.
Fantasy Football Running Backs to Sit in Week Nine of Fantasy Football
Cedric Benson: Cincinnati Bengals
Cedric Benson has been struggling this year and now he comes up against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that is out for vengeance. The Steelers gave up 20 points but they did not give up many yards on the ground. The Pittsburgh Steelers stingy run defense only allowed 30 points to the New Orleans Saints and they will be keyed up to stuff Benson in this game. Sit Cedric Benson in all fantasy football leagues unless the next best option is 14th or better.
Darren McFadden: Oakland Raiders
The Kansas City Chiefs run defense has allowed less than 90 yards on average this season and they will be well aware of the powerful tandem in the Oakland Raiders backfield. Darren McFadden and Michael Bush have shared the back field for the last two seasons and now McFadden has emerged as the dominant back.
McFadden racked up 111 yards on the ground and 24 through the air but never saw pay dirt. That does not add up to a huge fantasy football day in most leagues even with the 100 yard bonus. McFadden will get 80 yards against the Chiefs but look for a better alternative. Sit McFadden in all fantasy football leagues unless the next best option is 16th or better.
Shonn Greene: New York Jets
Shonn Greene was shut down against the Green Bay Packers run defense and it is very likely the Detroit Lions strong defensive line can shut him and LaDanian Tomlinson down also. The Detroit Lions have given up an average of 140 yards on the ground but they look like they have held the line better at home. Sit Shonn Greene in all fantasy football leagues unless the best option is 16th or better.
