Fantasy football begins in earnest with the first week of NFL football tomorrow September 12th. On the eve of the first Sunday of fantasy football, it is important for fantasy football owners to know everything about their starting players. Is there a last second injury or a player that may have a nagging injury as game time approaches. The NFL injury and fantasy football injury reports are the best place to find information.
The Best Fantasy Football Starts For Week One of NFL
Tom Brady New England Patriots
Tom Brady and his coach Bill Belichik have a few teams circled on their schedules and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week One were one. Brady suffered no ill effects from a major accident in downtown Boston on Thursday and he signed a contract to become the highest paid quarterback in the NFL. After such an eventful Thursday playing the Bengals at home should be a piece of cake. Brady will throw for over 350 yards and don’t be surprised if he throws for four or more touchdowns. Not a bad fantasy football day for most owners.
Peyton Manning Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts will begin the season with a road trip down to Houston to play the high powered offense of the Houston Texans. The Las Vegas set the over/under total on this game at 46.5. A large number this early in the NFL season and the highest total on the board Sunday.
This game will be a track meet and the last team to score will take home the temporary lead in the AFC South. Manning will throw for 300 plus yards and have a minimum of three touchdowns in his first fantasy football outing.
Matt Schaub Houston Texans
Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub should combine for over 700 total passing yards in this game and Schaub should have 300-350 yards passing. Most fantasy football owners of Schaub need no prompting to start Schaub or Manning in this game. Scahub will connect with his favorite receiver, Andre Johnson for a couple of scores and another big fantasy football game.
Phillip Rivers San Diego Chargers
There has been much talk of Phillip Rivers not throwing for over 4,000 yards this season with the holdouts of Vincent Jackson and Rivers blind side guard Marcus McNeill. Don’t believe any of it. Rivers needs no motivation to go out and light up division rival Kansas City. Rivers will have a solid fantasy football day and throw for over 300 yards.
Fantasy Football Quarterbacks to Sit in Week One of the NFL Season
Donovan McNabb Washington Redskins
McNabb is probably going to try to gut it out and play in this game against Washington’s mortal enemy the Dallas Cowboys. It is better if stays on the bench. McNabb has had some of his worst career performance against the Dallas Cowboys and he will be a target for the defensive lineman if he does play. Fantasy football owners will have to wait to put McNabb in the starting line up.
Mark Sanchez New York Jets
Ray Lewis is fired up for this game and he has a big target on sophomore NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez. New York Jets head coach, Rex Ryan built the Baltimore Ravens defense and he an Lewis have been chirping through the media before this game on Monday Night Football.
The Ravens defense will not allow Sanchez to feel comfortable and the Ravens could get five interceptions even without Ed Reed in the line up. Look for Sanchez to look confused and out of sorts for most of this game. Anyone that has Sanchez on their roster would have to be in a 12 man league and he would be third on the depth chart of a 12 man fantasy football roster for this game.
Vince Young Tennessee Titans
Inconsistent quarterbacks never make for good fantasy football players and any fantasy football owner with Vince Young probably on has him on their roster in case he has a few good weeks. Young will be shut down by a tougher and improved Oakland Raiders defense. Look for Young to only throw for 130 yards and a couple of picks. A rough fantasy football outing, even for a 12 man league.
