The Carolina Panthers have publicly stated today that they will not trade WR Steve Smith, or RB’s Jonathan Stewart or Deangelo Williams with the NFL trading deadline today. All three players are having subpar seasons and with the team out of playoff contention already, it was wondered whether they would cut bait and rebuild now. That obviously wont happen now. All three are still relatively young so they could be part oft he rebuilding process.
Analysis: Steve Smith surely is not happy about this as he would stand to gain the most from a trade. He is still out with a high ankle sprain but he wont be returning to a functional offense. Williams and Stewart have also let down fantasy football owners with continuously poor rushing games. Basically if you drafted a Carolina Panther this year, than you are not happy with how it turned out.
