The Downtown Santa Cruz Farmers’ Market is open rain or shine every Wednesday afternoon from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. The market is located one block off of Pacific Avenue at the corner of Lincoln and Cedar Streets behind Total Fitness. The Downtown Market was recently expanded and includes a music series and a weekly arts and crafts fair. They also offer cooking demonstrations as well as a “veggie valet” program. The downtown market began when Santa Cruz began to recover from the 1989 earthquake. It represents the best in local organic produce, pasture raised meats and eggs and much more.
The Westside Santa Cruz Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday morning from 9am to 1pm in the parking lot of the Wrigley’s Building at Western Drive and Mission Street in Santa Cruz. Participating farms include Happy Boy Farm, Live Earth Farm, Van Dyke Ranch, Twin Girls Farm, New Natives,Thomas Family Farm, Dirty Girl Farm, Route One Farm, Kasiwasi Fruit, Rodoni Farm, Green Planet Nursery, Condor’s Hope Winery, Kennedy Ranch, TLC Ranch, Bee Humble Apiary, Everette Family Farm, Oso Velloso Farm, Hog Farm(March-July), Blue Heron Farm,and Vasquez Family Farm.
The Live Oak (Capitola/Eastside) Farmers’ Market is open year round, every Sunday from 9am-1pm. It is held at 15th and East Cliff in the parking lot of the East Cliff Village Shopping Center.They also have an excellent music series. Rib-King is available here as well and offers a very good brunch menu. Live Oak is a bit less crowded than the other markets and plenty of parking is available.
