Jeggings represent one of the hottest fashion pieces of the season. What are jeggings? A cross between skinny jeans and leggings, they are one of the latest trends available to female shoppers for Fall & Winter 2010-2011.
Recently, I purchased a pair of jeggings from Target — my local go-to destination for new denim trend items. I have to admit, after purchasing my first jeggings, I returned for around four additional pairs in various denim washes. If you like to wear skinny jeans you already know — they are not the most comfortable thing a woman can wear. Jeggings on the other hand are an excellent alternative to traditional jeans — perfect for travel via airplane or simply running errands around town.
Jeggings provide the same fit as skinny jeans, but they offer the comfort level of stretchy leggings. Ideal for boots in the fall and winter, they are one of the most comfortable items in my current wardrobe. I love the jeggings I purchased at Target, because they feel almost like a second skin — akin to pajamas, regular leggings or any other super comfortable article of clothing.
Available at countless retailers, jeggings are reasonably priced on average, but they can cost customers as much as designer jeans. The jeggings I purchased at Target were each less than $30. Recently, many of them have been marked down to less than $15. I purchased jeggings by Mossimo Supply Co. at Target, as well as another vendor.
If you are interested in a pricier designer option, Women’s Verdugo Jeggings by Paige USA retail for around $199 online.
How to Wear
Jeggings provide a fitted silhouette — as long as they are worn with an oversized top or blazer the look is completely balanced and fashionable. Avoid wearing jeggings with a short or tight top, because the look will come across as overpowering as opposed to stylish. If you pair your jeggings with the appropriate shirt or blazer, you will find that they are an excellent addition to your wardrobe this season.
