If you live in or near the Fells Point, then you probably know about the Fells Point Festival. For those who do not know, it is an outdoor festival right in Fells Point that is sponsored by The Preservation Society.
The Fells Point Festival is held during the first Saturday and Sunday of October, from 11am to 7pm. It runs from Harbor Point east to Wolfe Street, as well as Broadway to Gough Street. But do not worry about not being able to find it, as you can’t miss a big festival in the middle of the Fells Point area!
It is free to get into the Fells Point Festival. You simply walk, take public transportation, or look for parking, and you can just join in on the fun! Of course like any festival, the vendors are not free. There are various stands and vendors set up by the stores in Fells Point (such as Sound Garden and Trixies Palace), as well as additional stands and vendors. At these stands and vendors, you can buy souvenirs such as Baltimore or Fells Point gear, football merchandise, jewelry, CDs, apparel, toys, art, and more! There is also a Fun Fest Flea Market to check out! You may even find a few vendors that offer free samples and merchandise.
If you are looking to have a little more fun, then you can check out the small area with carnival rides and a few games. There are rides for both children and adults to ride. You can also play a few games and try to win some prizes!
There is also a Beer Garden, where those who are 21 years of age and older can grab a beer to drink. In addition, there is also a stage in the Beer Garden where you can listen to a few local or cover bands play a small concert. The La Plaza Hispana will provide you with Latino music, dancing, and food!
If you have children with you, then do not worry. In addition to the carnival rides and games, there is another area that is designed just for children. This area provides the children with arts and crafts, chalk to draw with, and shows that are put on for children (such as a puppet show and a flea circus). In addition, there are chairs provided for the children to sit in while watching these fun shows!
Of course you may get hungry or thirsty while you are at the Fells Point Festival. There are quite a few food vendors through-out the festival for you to check out. You can get pizza, fries, ice cream, hot dogs, soda, lemonade, and more! There is a lot to choose from, making it easier for you to eat and drink what you would like.
The downside to the festival is parking, especially when you live close to the festival. It is recommended that you walk or take public transportation, or drive down there early. You should also be sure to dress for the weather and comfort, as it is an outside festival with a lot of walking.
So where will you be during the first weekend of October every year? If you can get to the Fells Point Festival, then it is definitely an event you should check out atleast once that weekend!
