As Jennifer Granholm’s term as governor winds down, she has put into place more initiatives to try and spur job growth in Michigan. She has picked 12 Michigan businesses to be the recipients of tax breaks and incentives designed to help them expand and create more jobs.
Ferndale business Search Optics Inc., is one of the 12 identified by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for the benefits. The company is looking to invest a little over $4 million in Ferndale to expand its business, adding almost 300 jobs on-site in the process. Granholm has earmarked them for $3 million in state tax credits as an incentive to keep them from moving to competing sites in Florida and elsewhere.
