When Mary Ann Neal resigned from the seat that she’d held on the Ferndale Library Board for 18 years, the remaining members had to scramble to find a replacement. They’ve found one, and her name is Darlene Johnson-Bignotti. Johnson-Bignotti, a former library trustee and longtime Ferndale resident, will serve until the November 2011 election. At that time, voters will decide who will hold the seat until the end of Neal’s original term, which is slated to end in November 2013. Johnson-Bignotti is currently on the faculty of the Oakland County Community College, bringing plenty of experience to her temporary board position.
