The San Francisco Vegan Fashion Show is the first vegan fashion show to happen in our fair city and it just happens to be taking place in our very own Golden Gate Park at the County Fair Building. On Oct. 2, as part of the 11th annual Word Vegetarian Festival, you can check out a cruelty-free fashion show for free with your $7 admission to the festival. It starts at 4:45 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.
The idea is to put the spotlight on cruelty-free fashion and demonstrate the fact that living green doesn’t mean you have to wear tie-dye or broom skirts.
The showcased designers are nationally known and will be showing off cruelty-free clothing, handbags and shoes. They include Pansy Maiden, Reco Jeans, Lions Share Industries, Vaute Couture, Melie Bianco, Cri de Coeur and contributor Mission Savvy. A silent auction will be featured.
The fashion show will be emceed by Rory Freedman, co-author of the “Skinny Bitch” book series. She was quoted in a press release as saying: “San Francisco is a perfect place for a vegan fashion show, and I’m honored to be part of its first. This is a phenomenal platform for promoting ethically-minded talent from across the country, and for proving that cruelty-free does not equate to frumpy. Green fashion is still, first and foremost, fashion.”
