It looks like Disney star Kyle Massey has more on his plate than his upcoming stint on Dancing With the Stars. In addition to his dancing duties, Massey will voice one of the main characters on the new Disney Channel animated series, Fish Hooks.
Massey is the voice of Milo, a teen fish who attends a Freshwater High School, a school that happens to be located in a pet shop aquarium. Chelsea Staub is the voice of Bea, an insecure fish who has stars in her eyes, while Justin Roiland is the voice of Oscar, Milo’s brother. The three pals face the typical challenges of high school- plus some fish-related challenges.
Then there’s the guest stars. According to Disney’s press release, Fish Hooks will feature recurring appearances by stars like Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live), Jerry Stiller (Seinfeld, The King of Queens) and fitness guru Richard Simmons .
The animation on Fish Hooks will be different than any show you’ve ever seen on The Disney Channel, featuring a unique mix of digital animation and photo collage.
But based on the show’s late start time (9:00 PM ET) and the high school theme of the show, Fish Hooks will likely be better suited for older tweens and adults than young kids.
While the Camp Rock set will surely love Fish Hooks (an extended preview aired during the premiere of Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam), the Playhouse Disney set won’t. They will undoubtedly be mesmerized by the animation, though.
You can watch a promo for Fish Hookshere or check out “Bea Stays in the Picture”, a 12 minute episode preview here.
I don’t know about you, but after this preview I know a few people who are already Hooked!
Fish Hooks premieres on September 24th at 9:00 PM ET/PT on the Disney Channel.
