Making the first impression on a first date is crucial in determining if you will ever get to see the woman again. So part of looking good on the first date is your fashion sense. Trust me guys, women are visual beings as well, so in the first five minutes on a date, a woman is evaluating your overall appearance from your hair style to the kind of shoes that you are wearing. So to guarantee a second date, read on and be sure not to commit these five fashion don’ts.
Fashion Don’t #1 For Men on a First Date – Wearing Tons of Cheap Cologne
Have you ever walked into a bar on a Friday night only to be blown away by the pungent smell of several kinds of cheap cologne colliding in the air? Listen up guys, that $9.99 fake designer cologne you get on sale at the drugstore is definitely a no-no on a first date. Not only does it smell cheap, but if you spray too much of it on you, some women get a headache from inhaling it on the first date. My advice: opt for a real designer cologne from Dolce and Gabbana or Zara Men and do not spray on too much! Investing in one good cologne is a good idea because they say when you smell good you can turn-on a woman, instantly. Remember to keep the cologne usage to a minimum by only spraying it on your pulse points (neck and wrists).
Fashion Don’t #2 For Men on a First Date – Fake Fashion Logos
When did wearing shirts that scream Armani in big block letters become fashionable? The market is flooded with fake designer clothing, but these are not the kinds of shirts you should wear on a first date. I know you want to impress your date by showing that you can afford such designer labels, but for women, it isn’t really important if you are wearing a designer shirt, it’s more important if you look good in it. My advice: do not wear fake designer label shirts on a first date, try investing in a few good looking shirts that compliment your physique. A navy blue or grey dress shirt look good on a first date.
Fashion Don’t #3 For Men on a First Date – Suspect Jewelery
Let’s leave wearing suspect jewelery like fake gold chains and big crucifixes for the hip-hop videos, shall we? Wearing huge and fake bling around your neck might be eye-catching for your date, but it’s just very tacky.
My advice: if you insist on wearing jewelery on a first date, opt for a nice watch from Swiss Army or Ecko. When you wear a stylish watch the message it screams to a woman is you are, “dressed to impress.”
Fashion Don’t #4 For Men on a First Date – Too Much Pomade in the Hair
I have no problems when men style their hair with hair products on the first date, but if your hair style looks and feels too greasy, it probably means that you put too much pomade or gel in your hair. Most women will notice this right away and, believe it or not, it’s a huge turn-off.
My advice: before heading out on your date, run your fingers through your hair and if you see gel or pomade on your fingers, it means you applied too much product in your hair. Get a paper towel and blot your hair with it, this will remove the excess product.
Fashion Don’t #5 For Men on a First Date – High-Waisted Pants
We are no longer living in the 1990’s when Steve Urkel from “Family Matters” made high-waisted pants look cool. That look is totally out of style and does not impress the ladies. Do not pull up your pants way above your waist and tuck in your shirt, it looks incredibly awkward.
My advice: wear your pants comfortably around your waist and if you have to tuck in your shirt, please untuck it a bit by letting it hang over the belt part of your pants.
