Christmas comes but once a year, it is a time of sharing and love. To be surrounded by your loved ones and to feel the warmth of the season over a nice glass of egg nog. We all know Christmas is magical, not in the sense of a magician, but in the sense of real magic. The kind you don’t see, the kind that you can feel all around you.
Some of my tips may be a bit messy but none will damage any of your furniture or carpets. They are all safe and fun. If I feel there is any cautions that need to be taken I’ll let you know.
Tip 1: If you can afford to a train that goes around the Christmas tree is an amazing thing, it brings a magical feel to the atmosphere. If the train blows smoke this takes it to another level. Children love seeing trains going around a Christmas tree and adults as well. You will be surprised at how much joy something as simple as a toy train going around a tree can be on the day of Christmas can bring. You should set this up Christmas night to surprise the kid(s) when they awake on Christmas day.
Tip 2: Fake snow in the house can be really fun, but due to pets and young children being tempted to put it in their mouth. I feel it would be best to use instant mashed potato flakes. You can pick these up at any store that sells boxed foods. There is many ways to make fake snow, that is a bit more realistic but this will still bring a feeling of Christmas magic to your family on Christmas day. Just sprinkle some potato flakes around your Christmas tree,or any other area you feel they would look appropriate. Do not put big amounts down if you have any wondering pets and also avoid putting them near a fireplace to avoid them possibly igniting.
Tip 3: Hang a mistletoe on Christmas eve to bring a little Christmas magic on the big day. This is a very traditional way to make your Christmas have that extra spark of Christmas magic. This will get your entire family in a joyful mood when they realize they are standing under the mistletoe and have to kiss.
Tip 4: Christmas music, nothing is more magical then hearing the heart warming sounds of our favorite Christmas carols on Christmas day. Play all your favorite Christmas classics, but don’t keep the volume to loud, because we want to be able to be able to hear one another over the din of music.
Tip 5: Take your time to layout your Christmas dinner in an elegant manner, put napkins down and wrap the silverware, use your best dish set. Put some scented candles in the center of the table. Some non alcoholic sparkling cider for the children, and some real bubbly for the adults, you just have to love popping the cork! You will be amazed in how magical something this simple can be, it will bring not only Christmas magic, but a sense of bliss to everyone dinning with you on Christmas.
I hope you find these tips helpful and have an amazing Christmas full of magic with your family this holiday season!
