Although some people have a hard time with identifying wild animals, most likely the birds that frequent the Mission District’s 16th St BART are pigeons and not doves. For some residents, the matter is simply getting out of hand. The ticket has been filed at SeeClickFix.com about people feeding the pigeons on that corner. The complaints are about the birds flying at their face and also the pigeon feces problem on benches, walking surfaces, and every other open space.
If you would like to vote, you can click on the ticket here. The city of San Francisco’s 311 frequently follows up on open tickets. Your opinions do matter and your voice will be heard.
Unfortunately, if you live in the neighborhood, and go to any of the restaurants, you will eventually experience a pigeon flying into the restaurant. It can be an absolutely horrifying experience, in my opinion. On the other hand, some people really enjoy the rare chance to experience wildlife in the city.
A recent article in the Mission Local sees the pigeon issue in a different light. One local resident in the neighborhood cares for injured pigeons and has studied them at the 16th St BART for many years. For this reason, to suggestions about your vote on the pigeon issue should reflect your compassionate views as well. Perhaps someone can leave a helpful suggestion that will solve the problem for both sides.
