Caramel Pear, Beets with Ginger, Oatmeal Stout? Nope these are not your dads homebrews on tap, these are some of the flavors conjured up at the Fort Greene based Ice Cream Club thus far. The gathering of ice cream makers is open to all comers who have something to share.
Founded by web developer and ice cream connoisseur Jonathan Soma, this monthly assemblage of boldness has brought out some frighteningly daring concoctions. Even founder Soma who “tends to stick with sweet flavors…recently made a Sino-influenced ice cream of shredded dried pork, green onions, and mayo,” according to reports from YourNabe.com (1).
Soma told YourNabe.com “It was disgusting as an ice cream, but tasted just like the pork buns that I eat in Chinatown.”
Hmmm…Chinatown inspired ice cream?
