Some people who get older may want to enjoy a good meal without having to cook a lot of food. Some people may enjoy restaurants but not the big portions of food that is served. However, times have changed and restaurants now cater to senior citizens who want smaller portions of food. I have chosen four budget-friendly restaurants in several different locations of Metro Detroit that senior citizens enjoy. The choices are based on location, service, food, atmosphere and price. Although these restaurants are right outside of Detroit, all four restaurants are within minutes from the freeway.
Bob Evans 45140 Corners Ct.Chesterfield, MI
Hours: Sun 7-9/Mon ‘”Thu 6:30-9:30/Fir & Sat 6:30-10
Bob Evans has great breakfast choices on their menu. The specialty is the sausage gravy and biscuits or their country-fried steak topped with country gravy. They have a senior’s menu that offers smaller portions of food and is great for smaller appetites. Located near Super Wal-Mart and minutes from Partridge Creek Mall, stopping here to eat is a treat. The service is good and food is served in a timely manner. The parking lot is big and it’s warm and welcoming inside.
The Pancake House 20273 Mack Ave.Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236
It’s something about this place that just makes you want to keep coming back. The Pancake House is usually busy on Sundays. This location is minutes away from Detroit. Don’t let the Sunday crowd stop you from enjoying a great breakfast. The line moves fast and their specialty is the apple pancake. The service is pretty fast and the food taste great. Seniors can get a half order on the pancakes and side orders.
Big Boys 200 W. Maple Rd.Troy, MI 48085
This budget-friendly restaurant is small and has friendly service. This Big Boy is located near the Troy Public Library and minutes away from Summerset Mall. Their specialty is the three egg omelet for breakfast or the Big Boy hamburger for lunch. This restaurant is good for locals who work, shop, or visit in the area. This restaurant is ideal for people who don’t like big crowds. There is a breakfast special for a really low price and it will definitely fill you up. They have a punch stamp program that offers $4.60 off your next meal when you get 10 stamps. You get a stamp each time you spend $2.50 or more.
Cracker Barrel 30750 Little Mack Ave Roseville, MI
Have you had some hickory smoked country ham, grits, and buttermilk biscuits? Their specialty is home cooked meals from scratch. Cracker Barrel has a gift shop that sells clothes, food, and merchandise. Their hours are Sunday through Thursday 6:00 am through 10:00pm and Friday and Saturday from 6:00am through 11:00pm. This restaurant is great for seniors who want to go in groups or with the family.
