There are a few television shows I watch faithfully and refuse to miss an episode no matter what. Most of these are shows I have been watching for quite a while like “The Closer”, “Psych” and “House.” Usually I am the harshest critic on new television shows and there are many I do not even consider starting to watch because I can tell they are doomed from the start. But there are a few new series that are in just the first or second season that is already do not miss television for me. I am happy to recommend these four television shows, you should be watching them, if you are not start no they are some of the best new shows on right now.
“The Walking Dead” – Airs Sundays 10 PM ET on AMC
Only six episodes in the first season of this new series on AMC and I am already hooked and hoping it continues to fulfill its potential. The apocalypse and zombies has been done to death in the movies but the unique premise for a television series is the reason I started watching this. Many may just write this show off as a horror movie rip-off if you do you will be missing out. Yes, it is graphic has gore and for mature audiences but the show is a lot more than just zombies. From the first episode you get emotionally invested in the characters. In each episode as you are introduced to more you get pulled deeper into their plight. Once you watch you will understand why this series has already received so much praise from critics and viewers and has been picked up for a second season.
“The Glades” – Second Season Begins Summer 2011 on A&E
If you are like me you probably do not watch many things on the Arts and Entertainment channel, many do not even know they have it. My sister is the one who suggested I check out this new series whose first season aired this summer. I was pleasantly surprised, the summer is usually associated with re-runs and lot of boring television. Matt Passamore does a brilliant job at portraying Jim Longworth, a Chicago police officer transplanted to Florida. The mix of drama, wit and sarcasm put it in my best on television list.
“The Good Wife” – Airs Tuesdays 10 PM ET on CBS
If you have not been living under a rock I am sure you have heard of this CBS drama starring Chris Noth and Julianna Marguiles. I am happy to say now into its second season this series keeps getting even better with each episode. If the Emmy and Golden Globe wins are not enough to get you to watch then do so for the stellar ensemble cast. Unlike many series where you have only a couple outstanding actors this one is full of talent. With actors like Christine Baranski, Alan Cumming, Josh Charles and stand out Archie Panjabi there are no weak characters. Another reason this is do not miss television is the timely and interesting storylines. Even though this is a show about politicians and lawyers, that is not all it is about, it has a strong personal storyline to enjoy also.
“Justified” – Second Season Begins February 2011 on FX
The last on my best new television shows will be back February 2011, and I am eagerly awaiting its return. This drama about U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens, whose character was created by Elmore Leonard is perfectly portrayed by Timothy Olyphant. I have to admit at first I was skeptical since most of the work I had seen him in were comedy roles. He plays Raylan as a smooth, old school southern lawman as if this role was created just for him. He is a contradiction with his tough exterior of a man of the law at odds with his compassionate self that he rarely gets a chance to show. If you missed season one it is being released in January 2010, buy it and catch up before season two starts. You will not regret it this one of the best new series out there and high on my list of must watch television.
