Not everyone is going to have a nice Christmas this year. The economy is not good, which means kids will miss out. This isn’t fair to the kids; every child should get some kind of present of Christmas. If you can’t provide that for your child, then you have places to turn. If you’re located in Metro Detroit and need toys for your children, these are the places that you can turn to.
The Information Center
This information center adopts not only the kids, but the adults as well. They have a program called Adopt-A-Family. People, who want to donate items, go to the office and they give them the first names of the family members and the wish list of the family. They go buy the items they want to purchase from the list and take them back o the information center, where they in turn pass the items onto the needy family. If you’re in need of clothes or food, you can also request gift cards to stores so that you may go pick out your own food or what ever else it is that you may need. You do have to go through an interview before they will place you on the list for assistance. This center is located on Eureka road in Taylor, Michigan.
The Salvation Army will help with toys and food for needy families. You must be low income to get help from here. They require proof of income, birth certificates for each child and ID cards for all the adults. They only accept application for 17 of the downriver communities.
