USO Harvest Festival Details
The USO Outreach Center at Fort Meade (7007 A Baker Street, Fort Meade, MD 20755) is sponsoring a fun filled Harvest Festival and all food and events are free for military families. The USO Harvest Festival will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Potomac Place Neighborhood Center Gym (4998 2nd Corps Blvd, Fort Meade, Maryland, 20755).
Featured Special Entertainment
The featured entertainment at the USO Harvest Festival is an interactive magic show presented by Wayne Allen the Magician. According to USO Outreach Center Coordinator Queen Waddell it “will start at 5:30 pm and last about 30-45 minutes”.
USO Harvest Festival Events
The festival was designed to have 100% free activities that will appeal to a wide range of ages so there should be something for everyone. Planned events include but aren’t limited to: an informal costume contest, an arts and crafts station, best jack-o-lantern contest, pin the nose on the pumpkin game, moon bounce fun, donut eating contest, a game station and a three-legged race.
Fun Fall Food
What could be better than fun fall food? Free fun fall food! And the USO Harvest Festival has some great goodies planned for military families, including: hot dogs, candy apples, cotton candy, popcorn, candy, chips, and donuts. Of course, beverages like water and juice will be available to wash it all down too.
Volunteering at the USO Harvest Festival
If you are interested in volunteering you can help before, during or after the USO Harvest Festival. At least 25 volunteers are needed for the entire event. Some volunteers are needed to set up between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The bulk of the volunteers are needed to help run activities, staff tables and assist with other tasks during the event between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Clean up volunteers are needed after the event from 7:00 to 8:00 pm (or until finished – more volunteers would mean faster finishing!). Of course, the USO is always seeking good volunteers to help with their wide range of outreach activities for military families, so even if you cannot volunteer for this event, if you’d like to volunteer, please contact Fort Meade USO Outreach Center Coordinator Queen Waddell at (410) 305-0660.
For more information about the USO Harvest Festival or to volunteer, contact USO Outreach Center Coordinator Queen Waddell at (410) 305-0660 or just show up for the event. She’s looking forward to meeting you!
