Are you looking for free interactive, educational online activities for children and teens? I’ve just found a website with over 140 free online games, printables, crafts and activities. Activities cover all different cultures, events and periods is history. This site is perfect for homeschool, public school and private school.
www.show.me.uk (click here) has one of the most extensive free kids’ educational websites that I have ever seen (and I’ve seen many!). Many museums around the world have a website and most of these feature interactive activities for children and teachers. Many offer free printable resources and downloads for parents and teachers. What Show.me.uk has done is to assemble links from museums all around the world. The links feature interactive online games and activities for children hosted by museum websites and geared toward their specific collections.
Show.me.uk offers a free website for kids that includes: Fun and games, Places to go (videos of collections from different museums), Get in Touch (connect with others), Show and Tell, Parents and Teachers links. I’ve linked to the Fun and Games link in this article. That link alone features over 140 different free online games and activities. There are free interactive games on health, history, animals, habitats, ancient civilizations, biographies, sports, culture, medieval, prehistoric, inventions, you name it and Show.Me.uk probably has it.
Teachers, planning a lesson or unit? Visit show.me.uk for resources. Students, doing a report for school? Make show.me.uk a first stop for information and activities. Looking for educational activities for children in homeschool or classroom? Show.me.uk will keep kids of all ages occupied and learning. Online interactive games are a superior resource for skill-building and exploration. Once students link to the museum website from show.me.uk, they will want to explore that museum’s website in-depth. The hardest part will be trying to get kids away from the great activities they discover. I clicked on a random link: Airship Game which took me to the National Museums Scotland website. Now I want to learn all about what museums in Scotland have to offer!
