If you have frequent migraines, or migraines at any extent you know how horrible they can feel. This is my personal story and any sufferer can definitely relate. Feeling miserable is not how you want to spend your time and they always come unexpectedly. The worst thing about having migraines is that there is no cure for them and make us all feel helpless. This article shall show you ways to cope with this illness or help the lucky ones that don’t suffer from these have more sympathy. Mostly help everyone help themselves when needed.
Seek Treatment Immediately
This is a very serious illness, more serious than anyone quite realizes. I once called an on call nurse and she told me that if I didn’t have any medication specifically for migraines that I must call an ambulance to make it to the emergency room. That in no way I should be driving myself. She was so right, because how can you drive when any light blinds you and you are constantly throwing up vomit. That all noises make you want to cover your ears no matter how small of a noise it may be. You feel like if you could somehow remove your head or fall into a deep sleep is the only way you will be able to cope. Crying from the extreme pain only makes you feel worse because it adds pressure to your migraine. You start to feel like you are going to go crazy.
All Migraines Are Different For Everyone
All migraines are a little different from each other and each sufferer has them all or only certain kinds. The symptoms are wide but the ones listed above that make you seek treatment are almost guaranteed to effect the sufferer. Some may feel pins and needles in their arms, some may see flashes of light, or some have all of the above symptoms. If you left your migraine untreated it may last from 4 hours to a whopping 72 hours. So this is not something to be taken lightly. If you go to an emergency, many sufferers have not realized that they do get in right away and do not have to wait. This is not a condition that medical staff wants you sit and wait for.
Harder To Treat If You Don’t Seek Immediate Treatment
The longer a patient waits to get treated it gets harder to treat. You see not everything they can give you work for everyone and should be spaced out if needed. They want to treat you quickly so that they can see if the treatment is starting to work. If it works, than good for you. Some others are not as lucky and may have to try a few things. I have been one of those people in the E.R. for hours trying different things. Or others are more equipped for these kinds of things and fix you right away. Unfortunately it depends on the kind of care you get and where you go. So please go ASAP.
Migraines Are A Genetic Disease
Migraines are considered a genetic disease passed down from family members. I have gotten mine from my mother and her side of the family. Until you accept that you are suffering a life long disease, you will not be able to cope as well. There are many home medications to have with you in the time of need. In my early 20’s I finally seen a doctor to get medications in which changed over the years. Since I am not a doctor I am not going to recommend certain medications to you. But what I will recommend to you is that you see a doctor soon and work on a treatment plan because this is not ever going to go away. Even with treatment, there is unfortunately no cure for migraines.
Prepare For Doctor Appointment
The triggers can vary so much from person to person. It is very important if you are going to seek help from a doctor that you have some kind of record of how you knew it was coming, how you felt when it was happening, and how you felt afterwards, and how you have treated yourself over the years of suffering. Urgent care facilities and emergency rooms can not help you in a treatment plan, but can only direct you to see a doctor to get one. They will give you temporary treatment and it is important to find something more permanent. You will be so happy that you have done this because it means much less trips to the urgent care and the E. R.
Has A Huge Traumatic Role In Life
I have been taken out of life for more than a day. I have been at work and felt it coming on because of the bright lights on the ceiling and from the outside windows. My head feeling like it is going to explode but instead the vomit flew out of my mouth into my trash can. Stranded at work waiting for a ride. That is when I decided to seek treatment. Don’t let this happen to you. When you can actually find a treatment to carry with you, this shouldn’t happen.
These things can take you out like a baseball bat hit you in the back of the head. You feel miserable even if you got treatment. You are likely to suffer for at least a whole day once the symptoms start to go away. You are laying around in misery afraid of light and noises triggering another one because you still feel the slight pain in your body and head.
I have listed two excellent sources that may help you in understanding this disease. I have also written this article in details for you to quickly look up some details to know you are not alone in this and that you are in urgent need to find medical treatment. This is something that should not be taken lightly and should be handled with care. This is your life we are talking about and to live it to the fullest means a better treatment specifically for you.
