The 2010 Fringe season premiere is just about here for fans. The 2010 Fringe season premiere will be Thursday, Sept. 23, at 9 p.m. on Fox, and with it comes the revelation of where the cast is heading this season. The season finale ended with a bit of a shocker last year, as it was discovered that main character Olivia (played by Anna Torv) had been accidentally left behind in an alternate universe. Instead of taking Olivia back with them to our universe, Peter and Walter took back the Olivia from the alternate universe, setting up what could be some really great drama for season three.
The way that season two of Fringe ended was a pretty great way of mixing things up, and with the season 3 premiere, we will continue to explore the stories of both Olivias. Will the alternate Olivia end up sabotaging the work of Peter and Walter back at home? Or will she remain silent about who she really is in order to gain more information as well as their trust? She has been placed into an odd situation, especially since she finally discovered the secret about there actually being alternative universes in that season finale. Then we have the “good” Olivia back in the alternate universe trying to survive.
The Fringe season premiere looks like it will focus a lot on what happens to the “good” Olivia as she is faced with the realization that she has been left behind. She was placed in a facility to be kept under wraps, and she will of course try to escape and find a way back to her own universe. There were clues in season two that Olivia might have a power that would help her shift between the two universes. We haven’t yet seen if she can do it without the help of other people who were experimented on while they were children, though. We may find the answer to that question very soon.
There are a lot of directions that the third season of Fringe can go, and there is also the pitfall for viewers that the relationship between Olivia and Peter could be furthered by the alternative Olivia. Because Peter doesn’t know this isn’t the real Olivia, she could end up pulling the wool over the eyes of the team. Of course we all hold out hope that the writers have made Peter smart enough to figure out what is going on before he and Walter get duped into revealing too much information to the alternative Olivia.
The writers have definitely set up an interesting concept here, and we will begin to see how it all plays out in the Thursday season premiere of Fringe.
