Prospect Heights Patch reported a few days ago that fundraising efforts are underway to finance restoration of the soldiers and sailors memorial arch at Grand Army Plaza.
The arch used to be in such a condition that it could host art exhibits, and the goal would be to restore it to that state once again.
The cost of this work is an estimated 2 million dollars, according to the Prospect Park Alliance, the organization that has already secured 1.35 million through Borough president Marty Markowitz and City Council Members Letitia James and Steve Levin, says PHP.
No time frame was given for completion of the fundraising or for when the work might actually begin.
But needless to say perhaps, it might be some years before the arch is open again for exhibitions.
