I am a mom to four children under the age of eight and I have to tell you…they are the most hilarious people on earth. Hands down. I think what I love the most about children is that they just say whatever is on their minds. They don’t think about your reactions or if their words are ‘uncouth’; they are just trying to say what needs to be said (and, oftentimes, I’ve wished I’d had the courage to have said it first!)
The following are some of the most hilarious things I’ve heard from the mouths of my babes:
“Mama! Come quick! My hair is on backwards!” ~ five-year-old Jordy after seeing her ‘bed head’.
“My bum laughed!” ~ three-year-old Xander after passing gas from laughing so hard.
“Uh oh. She’s got crazy eyes, guys. Run!” ~ seven-year-old Jaimie when I was trying to repress my anger after she and her siblings knocked my plant stand over.
While waiting to have a blood test done during my third pregnancy, my daughter Jaimie, four at the time, was getting bored. We decided to pass time by getting her to spell out short words on posters in the clinic. After a few minutes, Jaimie saw a colorful ad and started spelling it out, as loud as she could, “V-i-a-g-r-a”!
Our son’s preschool teacher overheard Jordy (four at the time) and another little girl playing ‘House’. Jordy was the ‘Daddy’ but was putting on a skirt. The other little girl said, “Daddies don’t wear skirts! Mommies do!” To which Jordy responds, “Nah uh! In our house, my Dad says my Mom wears the pants and he wears the skirt.”
