I am the mother of two young children. As many of us know, kids can say the darnedest things. Over the years I have heard some very interesting things come out of their mouths. My son especially has made his share of giggle inducing comments. Here are a few examples.
My 5 year old son Darren is a big fan of Spongebob Squarepants. One day he came into my room and politely asked me if we could go to the fair. When I explained to him that we couldn’t go because it cost money that I didn’t have at the time, he exclaimed “Barnacles!”, and stormed out of the room.
Then there was the time when he was trying to write words. He had just started Kintergarden and didn’t really know much yet. Well, he got excited after writing something and said “Mom! I spelled Go!”. I looked at the paper and he had spelled out the word “Poo”. He had my brother and I laughing so hard.
Recently, I bought him some baby bananas. When I showed them to him he said “I’ve been waiting FOREVER to try these guys. I told my whole school about them”. My son is so silly.
I sometimes think that my son will grow up to be quite the ladies man. The babysitter once told me a story that made me laugh very hard, even though it was a little inappropriate. She told me that one day my son laid his head on her chest and looked up at her. He had a huge grin on his face. When she asked him why he was grinning, he replied “I’m laying on your big boob!”.
I absolutely love my children. Whenever I’m sad they tell me jokes they made up. I was having a bad day once and the kids could tell. One of Darren’s jokes was “How many underwears talked to the squiggly light bulb?” I answered “5”. This was apparently the right answer because he immediately threw his hands up in the air and exclaimed “CORRECT!”. My mood was definitely lifted after that.
I also have a niece who is 3 years old. She is a very sweet little girl but at that age they don’t always know how rough they can be. One day she was on my bed holding the cat down against it’s will. The cat was crying and trying to escape. My sister tried to explain to her that cats don’t like to be held that way. My niece innocently replied “Oh no, she loves me. I am just putting her to sleep”.
This is just a few of the gut busting comments my son has made. He is quite the character so it’s impossible to remember them all. It seems that every day he says something funny or silly. That is the beauty of children. They say whatever comes to mind and they don’t hold back. If you’re bored, your children can provide the comedy relief for sure.
